Holly Jones is among the excellent new candidates running for Buncombe County Commission. She has a strong track record on fiscal responsibility, experience in local government and a commitment to openness and transparency.
It’s time for an end to the old politics that pits city against county. It’s time for leadership that recognizes we’re in the same boat here in Buncombe County, and we’d better start paddling in the same direction. Holly Jones has the leadership and vision necessary to move Buncombe County forward into a brighter economic, environmental and fiscal future.

Is this the Jones that secretly orchestrated the removal of Dr. Joe Dunn from the Airport Authority?
she is a zoner who ignores contraception.
Re: “she is a zoner who ignores contraception:” with most sincerity: I am reading this page to educate myself regarding local politics. Could you kindly lay out what you mean? This is a side I have seen no reference to.
Your comment is frankly too blanket to not back up and to vague to be considered a community contribution. That comment I make not ad hominem. I challenge you to respond to my singular direct question.
I know Joe Dunn and like him alot. I didn’t know Holly had a hand in that sordid business. I will not votefor her now. I wish Joe Dunn was running for commissioner. He would be the best of the challengers.

Crash course in asheville politics; Ditmore is obsessed with birth control. He is even more so in real life.
And Holly Jones is probably into zoning, would be my guess.
Laurel honey, watch out for your quick acceptance of an internet smear. Might want to read more than those few sentences before you make up your mind.
The city can fund contraception through nonprofits like planned Parenthood, as they do other human services including Jones’ own YWCA, but Jones refuses to take a stand.
Yes, zoner refers to a supporter of zoning, which drives up rents.
Oh, and I heard Dunn IS running, but he never opposed zoning on council either. Really no candidate ever elected by Asheville voters should be acceptable to county voters because we are polar opposite constituencies. If you represent Asheville values then you do not represent Buncombe values.
Bothwell’s and Jones’ building moratoriums and regulations are racist for the same reason the death penalty is racist. Because it has a massively disproportionate and negative effect on people of color. Only 50 years ago, Asheville zoning was overtly racist. So how can soppossed “antiracists” continue to support it?
> Alan,
I politely take all of your outrageous insults. I can appreciate you having
a different opinion of me but you are way out of line describing my platform
as racist.
That said, I will let the African American voters in this community judge
for themselves. They know me well and what I stand for.
You owe Cecil and I an apology. But I am not holding my breath.
This will also be my last e-mail to you.
Holly
They did when they voted against zoning in 1999

Alan, that is a dirtball slime move on your part. Private emails should remain private as they are generally not for publication. It reveals much concerning your character.
