With all the development, paving, cutting of trees, and earthmovers trundling through fields and open green spaces in our area, I just want to express how heartwarming I find it to walk my dog past the future section of the RiverLink park on Amboy Road.
Contrary to the majority of construction sites in Asheville, there are no mobile-home units being stacked atop each other to be offered as luxury condos. There are no cookie-cutter houses teetering above the French Broad River on stilts. Instead, the concrete and asphalt is being jackhammered, pulverized and carted away—turning a huge swath of pavement into a green, riverside park. Hallelujah. I hope it’s a trend.

Hallelujah indeed!
Only cookie cutters can make enough affordable housing, including on Amboy Rd. And there is no way to make affodable housing without plenty of housing in general.
