Thank you, Mountain Xpress and Hunter Pope, for the recent acknowledgement of the greening efforts at Downtown After Five [“Green Is the New Downtown After Five,” Aug. 13]. We truly appreciate you taking the time to highlight our ongoing mission to preserve our local environment.
The biggest obstacle we faced in getting this program off the board was to deliver the statement that going green is not merely a fad or a trend, but a change in lifestyle that we must all universally adopt for the sake of ourselves, our children and each other. At Downtown After Five, we are accomplishing this through both the dedicated work of our outstanding volunteers and the concerted efforts of our attendees.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all who take the time to learn and understand the importance of that goal at our events. We encourage you to visit us at Downtown After Five and learn what you can do. Our reward for greening will be to see our efforts go forth and become habit for everyone we touch and, in turn, those they touch in our city. Together we can and will make an important and lasting difference in our community.
