I am encouraged by the Buncombe County commissioners’ resolution to take bold action to tackle global warming. North Carolina has a lot at stake when it comes to global warming, and already communities in Western North Carolina witnessed some of the worst flooding in 70 years this past summer. Scientists warn that extreme weather like this will only become more frequent and severe if we do not dramatically reduce our global warming pollution.
Buncombe County’s goal of reducing global warming pollution by 80 percent is what we need if we are to avoid further impacts to our communities, health and environment.
