Dear Mayor Terry Bellamy: I have noticed, being a downtown resident for several years, that crossing the street is much more dangerous than it should be. Reason being, even when there is a walk signal, cars can still make a right on red. I know of people who have actually been hit because of this problem, which could easily be solved.
The “no right on red” rule should be implemented at every intersection downtown. I know this would be an inconvenience to drivers, but it would definitely be a better alternative than putting pedestrians, not to mention the tourists, at such a risk.
I hope, Mayor Bellamy, you will give this situation due consideration. Thank you.
