“Blue Dog” Shuler’s bark rings a false note

Once again, Rep. Shuler [“Blue Dogs Rule?” Sept. 1 Xpress] treated us to more non-answers to important questions, all the while trumpeting his ''blue dog" bona fides. I won't even go into his positions on gay rights, hate crimes and a woman's right to choose.

I think a more appropriate description for Shuler would be "blue weasel." A dog, after all, is man's best friend.

  1. Well maybe next time the letter writer will research their Candidates a little closer then just if their was a D or an R in front of their name . . . . awww who am I fooling . . .

  2. I support gay rights but I fail to see the logic behind the hate crimes push. The punishment for assault or murder should be uniform, regardless of the victim’s gender or sexual orientation. Are there documented cases in this country where police failed to act in defense of the victim because the victim was gay?
