One of the quiet but pervasive things happening in this country is the politicizing of the American judiciary. Judges are supposed to operate above partisan politics, ruling according to law, not according to whether they are Republicans or Democrats. A strong democracy depends on it! Today, however, we are seeing something very different. Starting with the U.S. Supreme Court, it comes down.
On Friday, Sept. 9, Elders United for a Just Society will hold a symposium on "The Politization of the American Judiciary." Tom Coulson, founding president of North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections Coalition, will describe the scope of the problem and tell how we average citizens can work toward better directions.
The symposium will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 3070 Sweeten Creek Road, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The public is invited.
