Yes, I would like to see more parking, However, it seems that the city is overpaying for this project, and there are more important infrastructure projects that we need.

COA may have bad information when they talk about a parking crisis. Helping people find parking may be part of the solution.
Obviously the new way finding signs didn’t make much difference. But there are other options. Since 51 is happening, the construction will be a barrier to visitors who don’t know how to find the many and plentiful existing parking options downtown.
Btw, Aloft is a Starwood Hotels subsidiary. Thus, the COA parking deck is at least partly subsidizing a major, multibillion dollar MNC.
I’m happy and healthier for parking on Orange St. and walking in the 5 blocks to downtown. Besides, government interference of what should be free market downtown parking is a clear violation of Tea Party principles as well as a highly polluting big government budget buster porkfest.
The government should not be competing with private downtown free market parking garage owners.
