It has been unfair and inaccurate to label Marc Hunt as an anti-park candidate. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with him on developing a public park in West Asheville.
In 2011, the city of Asheville acquired the 14-acre Waller tract that is now the Hominy Creek Greenway. Frankly, we’re lucky to have it. Many community members and organizations played a role in purchasing the land for use as public green space; however, without Marc, this would not be public parkland.
Marc’s leadership, advocacy and hard work helped seal a complex land deal to set the stage to transform this tract into one of Asheville’s loveliest parks. Marc has continued to support the development of the Hominy Creek Greenway, but it’s just one of many park and greenway projects Marc has advocated for in his public career.
If you support greenways and parks in Asheville, please vote for Marc.
