A tip for reading Bill Branyon’s letters: Ignore all modifiers — mostly the adjectives, although the adverbs and adverbial phrases are also colorfully irrelevant [“The Empire Strikes Back,” Aug. 10, Xpress].
What remains, while not very convincing, is certainly shorter.
