Founded in 1986, Western North Carolina AIDS Project is committed to improving the lives of individuals and families struggling with HIV/AIDS, and strives to prevent further spread of the disease through prevention, education and volunteer services.
The agency serves more than 300 HIV-positive clients in 11 Western counties, and is funded by individual and corporate contributions, government and foundation grants, United Way membership and special fundraising events, such as the annual “Raise Your Hand Art Auction” and “Dining Out for Life.”
“WNCAP staff are dedicated to their mission, and have demonstrated that dedication through their advocacy on behalf of clients and their ongoing message of HIV prevention,” says Ron Curran, executive director of WNCAP. “We appreciate the continued support of the community, and on behalf of those infected, we continue to make people aware that HIV/AIDS is still a major crisis in our country and region, as well as around the world.”
