Ann Franklin, the current chairwoman of the Buncombe County Board of Education, is running unopposed. She did not respond to Xpress’ invitation to participate in this voter guide.
The Buncombe County Board of Education is a seven member body that meets monthly to support and provide oversight to Buncombe County Schools. There are six districts corresponding with each of the high schools in the county (not including Asheville city schools) and one at-large seat. All of the seats are filled by non-partisan elections for 4-year terms. While those running for specific seats must be from that district, residents of all the districts may vote for one candidate in each race.
