It sounds like the set up for the best bar joke of all time: “40 nuns walk into a bar with one Bad Habit … ”
But it’s no joke! Well, maybe it is. Seriously. Just add beer.
Through a recent collaboration of LaZoom Comedy Tours, The Thirsty Monk, and Asheville Brewing Company, “Sister Bad Habit Amber Ale” has been created. On Sept. 2, guests of the sold-out tour for the afternoon met at the Thirsty Monk (a regular stop on the Lazoom City Tour), set their wimples straight and came out to show their true monotones and celebrate the very first LaZoom dedicated brew.
After getting on the bus at the Thirsty Monk the tour/rolling party continued on to Asheville Brewing Company and ultimately on to The Bywater, which will also carry Sister Bad Habit on tap, for the post tour party!

I think the idea of a local brewery, tour company, and their customers ridiculing nuns is a great idea. In this age anyone who takes a vow of poverty, chastity and obedience has left themselves open to ridicule even if they don’t wear a funny outfit. What I’d like to see next is a local brewery or tour company ridiculing priests (not just dressing up as priests, but making light of some of the recent highly publicized problems some priests have gotten themselves into. And there are lots of comical things one could do whilst dressed up as a Hasidic rabbi. Think of the laughs! Ayatollah outfits are also pretty funny. Last but not least, why don’t we have somebody dress up as the prophet Mohammed and walk around Asheville acting silly? Admittedly, some people might not be happy with this and might choose to make a violent faith-based response, but is just doesn’t seem right to just pick on easy targets (such as nuns) who won’t object to being ridiculed.
I think that was a great comment.
