Here’s a look at what’s coming up in Wednesday’s edition of the Mountain Xpress.
News stories this week include: one man’s crusade to save the night sky; a look at the Asheville Book Exchange; a preview of the court battle pitting North Carolina vs. the Tennessee Valley Authority; and an examination of proposed redevelopment along Haywood Street in downtown.
On the Arts & Entertainment front, Xpress writers: advance the upcoming Musique Automatique music festival; profile local musican Jonathan Scales; and launch a new local music column.

These keep getting better and better.
And Steve’s acting ability has improved exponentially, mentioning Jason Bugg and Ken Hanke in the same piece without clapping his hands to his mouth and giggling. He did smile slightly in introducing Alli Marshall but, then, she brings a smile to all our faces.
I give it four stars and one of them little squiggly things… oh, yeah, a tilde! ~
Keep them coming, please.
If we could just get ya’ll to read the articles to us that would be awesome’r.
And the stars are born …
Good effort, all, but how about a little international symbol that this is a video? a little video-camera icon attached to the headline? There’s no clue on the home page that this is a multimedia feature of some sort. Because of that … I completely ignored last week’s premier and only stumbled into it today.
I vote for the multimedia icon. also!
Thanks for the suggestion, Margaret. We’ll explore that option.
I should note, though, that this was the third installment of our video preview, not the second.
And I’ll sound a personal note of hope that readers would be interested in an Xpress preview whether its in words or video;)
While we’re at it, Jon (as I’ve often asked) how about the ability to correct our posts. Like the misuse of ‘its’ in your post above. 😉
The third one!? Oops. I must not have had my glasses on, that week.
A sneak preview “tease” is a good idea (with your clothes on, of course!) and has many possibilities, video or audio. Next, you’ll start the Xpress cable TV network ….
Ralph:
Regarding your request for us to enable readers to “correct” their posts, we’ve opted not to do that. The main reason is that online communication gets confusing enough, for some, as it is. If posters were able to go back and change what they initially wrote, we’d run the risk of having folks change the content and meaning — and the context — of the comment threads retroactively.
For example, if someone were to respond to a given comment, only to have the original comment changed, the response might not make sense at all — or it might totally decontextulize the discussion.
But of course, posters are always welcome to post another message explaining what the *meant* to say.
Thanks for the reply, Jon.
Most boards overcome the misgiving you have by limiting the time a correction can be made and/or generating a line indicating editing was done with a date/time stamp.
I run several boards and consider this by far the more elegant solution than the way it is here.
I hope you’ll revisit it. … thanks.
