Make room in your yard — the Buncombe Soil & Water Conservation District holds its annual tree seedling sale starting Thursday, Feb. 28, at Jesse Israel & Sons Nursery within the Western North Carolina Farmer’s Market.
Available species include Eastern white pine, white ash, black walnut, wild plum, crabapple, Northern red oak, dogwood, white oak, red maple, black cherry and common persimmon (a mature specimen is shown here). Pine seedlings come in at a very affordable 25 cents each; hardwood species will set you back 75 cents.
The sale will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday and continue through Saturday, March 1 — or until the seedling supplies are depleted. Sale hours on Friday and Saturday will be from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call the BS&WCD office at 250-4785.
