Protests and turmoil erupt in Haiti — Twitter-based coverage from Lorin Mallorie

Asheville-based journalist Lorin Mallorie posted Twitter observations from Haiti regarding the breakdown of order on Nov. 18. These tweets were sent between 2:50 and 3 p.m. that day. More recent tweets appear in the Twitter-feed box below.

Rumors of an “earthquake” from 11-18th, now clearly a cover for protest trouble.
Cholera protests erupt in Port-au-Prince, UN reportedly throws tear gas into tent camp across from capital.

Phone call from Cap-Haitian calling it a “war”.
If the function of the UN is keeping peace, seems like they should just go.
Protestors reported burning tires and throwing stones at foreigners cars.
