From a report (with video) by Facing South, a project of the Institute for Southern Studies:
Members of Occupy NCSU and Occupy Raleigh, part of the larger Occupy Wall Street movement, targeted Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf in a protest late last week decrying the bank’s business practices. Wells Fargo is one of the so-called “big four” U.S. banks, ranking 23rd overall on this year’s Fortune 500 list of companies with the biggest revenues.
An estimated 25 students and Occupy supporters were escorted from the lecture, but not before delivering the now-familiar “mic check,” the group’s practice of repeating in chorus the statements of a group leader, making their message audible in a public gathering without amplification.
The group chanted that Wells Fargo is guilty of widespread predatory lending, and that it foreclosed on hundreds of thousands of homes last year, “many of them illegally.”
“Wells Fargo has been fined $85 million for its crimes,” the group intoned. “You have issued no admission of guilt or apology.”
Here is a link to video of the protest in the auditorium, which was guarded by a large force of local police and private security guards:
