The eighth annual Asheville Metro Economy Outlook, a presentation of the latest significant economic trends, will take place this evening, June 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place. Networking will kick off at 5 p.m. — so bring those business cards.
The event, presented by the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Asheville Metro Business Research Center, will feature two noted economists who will share their insights on the national and local economic outlook. Parsec Financial Management’s chief economist, James F. Smith, will comment on why the U.S. economy is most likely already in recession, and how long it will last. Smith will explain the telltale signs of economic decline and the subsequent expansion and recovery. He’ll also comment on the differences in the political implications of his forecast compared to the consensus.
Also, Tom Tveidt, director of the Asheville Metro Business Research Center, will lead an analysis of the local economy, including demographic changes in the area.
