Into the Vault: What’s new in The Xpress Files

This week’s new additions to The Xpress Files, our online archive of government records on much-discussed and oft-debated local issues:

• A summary of a report on downtown-parking needs commissioned by Asheville City Council.

• The Mountain Area Information Network’s letter from the Asheville Tree Commission urging City Council to protect a downtown magnolia from potential problems with the proposed Parkside condos.

• Asheville City Attorney Bob Oast’s analysis of state law on development moratoriums, prepared in the wake of suggestions by local politicians that the city should consider one until a new downtown master plan is in place.

• A city of Asheville staff report on City Council work sessions; after abandoning such sessions for a while, Council has returned to holding one a month.
