The new year came in like a lion today, Jan. 3, as Asheville residents woke up to bitter cold winds and snow. The winter weather was greeted on social media with a mix of trepidation and joy, as locals tried to drive on icy roads or sled down snowy hills.
Residents are continuing to post a mix of traffic reports, power outages, school closings, jokes, and photos as the day unfolds. Some are noting that the worst (or best – if you like winter sports) weather is yet to come, as forecasters are calling for more snow and even colder temperatures in a couple of days.
