Perhaps you’ve seen this green-and-blue mystery bus that says it’s “out of service.” It’s one of several new hybrid passenger buses the city of Asheville is preparing for service.

According to the city’s website, “Asheville Transit received $2.1 million to acquire five hybrid buses, furthering efforts to develop a green transit fleet. In addition, Asheville Transit received a Federal Transit Administration grant to develop an Environmental Management System.”

You really have to watch out for these.. I’ve seen them and they’re amazingly QUIET.
For what reason are they just driving them around with the Out of Service sign?
That’s to give the squirrels under the hood some time to warm their little legs up.
