The Sept. 18 meeting of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners bodes to be a relatively quiet one. An amendment to the county’s animal-control ordinance will be accompanied by signing of a new contract with the Asheville Humane Society, among a few other actions, according to the agenda posted on the county Web site.
In addition, the commissioners will have a chance to sign off on termination of a controversial lease of county river frontage to Progress Energy. The meeting time has been bumped up to 3 p.m. (instead of 4:30 p.m.) and commissioners will hold a retreat after the session to discuss upcoming county business and receive reports from staff.
