North Carolina Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Etheridge spoke at Asheville’s Malaprops bookstore Friday night as part of his “early voting” tour of western NC. Etheridge spoke to a small crowd about what he said was the damage done by the current Republican state leadership and the importance of education.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Gubernatorial candidate Bob Etheridge announced on Thursday the launch of a five-day campaign tour of mountain and other Western counties as part of his initiative to promote early voting. Etheridge has planned a long weekend of meet-and-greet events throughout the Western part of the state.
Etheridge looks forward to talking with voters, hearing their concerns, and discussing how we can work together to bring in business, get people back to work, and lower county unemployment rates. During Monday night’s debate on WRAL, the former Congressman announced a plan to put the best and brightest minds from North Carolina’s universities, business community, and regular citizens together and create solutions for the problems North Carolina faces.
Concerned about the higher unemployment rates in less populous, rural counties, Etheridge also announced a plan to work together with counties to create a jobs plan for every single one. “Every county is different, every county is important, and every county has different resources available to it. We need to develop a jobs plan that reflects that,” says Etheridge. “The less populous or more rural counties are just as important as Wake and Mecklenburg counties. We’ve all got to work together.”
The “Early Vote Tour” starts Thursday (19th) and lasts through Monday (23rd). Etheridge will be visiting 12 counties.
