Local nonprofit Green Opportunities coordinates everything from community gardens to the renovation of the Reid Center. The organization’s recently released annual report provides a glimpse at the scale of its efforts and funding.
Below are some highlights:
• In the past year, 78 people secured employment or paid apprenticeships through GO’s green-jobs programs.
• GO workers and trainees earned $292,875 in wages.
• The organization completed 23 community service projects.
• The nonprofit took in $1,351,317 in income, most of it ($681,889) from grants and United Way funding and income from services ($424,911). This is up from $1,132,440 in 2011-12.
• GO spent $1,359,609, mostly on social enterprises ($549,576) and training and placement ($537,614). This is increased from $1,165,239 in 2011-12.
