The city of Asheville will hold a series of community input sessions Sept. 8 and 9, seeking input on the hiring of a new chief for the Asheville Police Department. The office is filled by interim Chief Wade Wood, since Chief Bill Hogan retied in May, amidst controversy about missing evidence and the settlement of a harassment lawsuit involving a (still-employed) APD officer.
The city of Asheville will hold four sessions — three at the YMI Cultural Center and one at the officers of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce — this week. According to an announcement from the city, the consultants leading the search will use the information, along with that gathered from an online survey.

ASHEVILLE – The City of Asheville is seeking community input as part of the recruitment process for the police chief position. Four community input sessions will be held Sept. 8-9. Residents will also have opportunities to share input through an online survey.
The consulting group leading the national search, Development Associates, will summarize the information gained from both the community meetings and the website to identify key competencies needed in the next chief.

2:30 – 4 p.m. at the YMI Cultural Center located at 39 South Market Street #B,
7:30 – 9 p.m. at Vance Elementary School located at 98 Sulphur Springs Road.
Friday, Sept. 9
8 – 9:30a.m. at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce Board Room located at 36 Montford Avenue.
