The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will have the opportunity to hear from the public on the county’s proposed $313 million budget for the coming fiscal year at tomorrow’s meeting. The budget has no tax increase, but roughly $6 million in cuts, including 86 staff positions.
This is the second stage of the county grappling with the budget during these tight economic times. After the public hearing tomorrow, the commissioners will vote on the final version of the budget in late June.
Also on the agenda: an update on the county’s economic development and the H1N1 flu virus, commonly known as “Swine Flu.”
The commissioners will meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at 30 Valley St. A brief pre-meeting session will begin at 4:15.
