Today’s meeting of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will feature a presentation on “Green Jobs in Buncombe County” by Asheville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director of Economic Development, Ben Teague.
The presentation will be an overview of the chamber’s efforts to cultivate and attract environmentally sustainable industries and jobs to the area, says Teague. He also promises to announce workshops the Chamber is putting together for local businesses that are interested in “going green.”
In other business, the board will consider several rezoning requests. Applicants for rezoning include WNC Mountain Land Corp., Tiny Farms Subdivision and WNC Pallet & Forest Products. At the commissioners’ April 6 meeting, several attendees spoke out against approving the rezoning request by WNC Mountain Land Corp., causing the board to delay its vote until today.
The board will meet at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, in the commissioner’s chambers, located at 30 Valley St. A short pre-meeting review of the agenda will begin at 4:15 p.m.
