Asheville’s East End neighborhood, circa 1970

Pack Memorial Library is celebrating Black History Month with an exhibit of photographs from the Andrea Clark Photography Collection. Dating from the early 1970s, the photos were taken in Asheville’s East End neighborhood, a mostly black community. The exhibit offers a compelling visual history of an oft-ignored chapter of Asheville history. (See “You Must Remember This,” in this week’s Xpress.) [Scroll down to the sidebar on that page.]

On Sunday, Feb. 24, Clark will speak at Pack Memorial Library at 2:30 p.m. A reception and “front porch discussion” of the changes in the East End neighborhood will follow.
