On Sept. 10, Patriot Day eve, about 15 people gathered in front of the Vance Monument in downtown Asheville to rally for “peace on earth.”
Later that night, President Barack Obama addressed the nation, making the case for possibly taking military action against Syria in response to a chemical weapons attack.
The U.S. government designated Sept. 11 as Patriot Day in honor of the thousands of Americans killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks that occurred on the date.

Veterans For Peace gather at the Vance Monument every Tuesday around 5pm or so. Also, I believe the Veterans For Peace annual convention is in Asheville next year.. Around the first week of August.
