Asheville Downtown Commission plans big meeting Friday, June 8

With several A-list topics on the agenda and a possible crowd in attendance, the city of Asheville has decided to move this week’s Downtown Commission meeting to a larger room in the S. Charlotte Street Public Works Building.

The agenda is rife with high-profile discussions and high-rise proposals: The proposed 23-story Ellington hotel on Biltmore Avenue and the Zona Lofts on Coxe Avenue are both up for review, and the commission will also discuss the city’s policy for selling air rights for balconies over public rights-of-way.

Since the meeting may bring in more of a crowd than the typical Downtown Commission meeting, it has been moved from City Hall to the Public Works Building at 161 South Charlotte Street.

The Downtown Commission will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 8. The agenda is available here.
