As soon after the Oct. 9 primary as the general election ballots can be prepared, absentees voting by mail may acquire their ballots. Also hinging on how soon the ballots are prepared, one-stop absentee balloting will begin—but no earlier than Oct. 18; it will end Nov. 3. Oct. 15: Haw Creek Community Association Candidates Forum (Asheville City Council), 7 p.m. at Evergreen Community Charter School (50 Bell Road in Haw Creek Valley).
Oct. 17: Asheville City Council Candidates Forum, 7 to 9 p.m. at UNCA’s Reuter Center (Chestnut Ridge Room), sponsored by the League of Women Voters, Kids Voting and NCCCR. Oct. 25: Black Mountain Aldermen and Mayor Candidates Forum, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, sponsored by Black Mountain News and League of Women Voters.
Nov. 6: General election for municipalities throughout Buncombe County, and partisan/nonpartisan election referendum for the city of Asheville.
