Girl Scouting is for every girl, everywhere. Today’s girls can become tomorrow’s leaders. Most girls join a local troop or group for fun and friendship, but they also find out about building character and self-esteem and serving their communities: the core qualities of Girl Scouting. In Girl Scouts, girls find a safe place to grow and share new experiences, learn to relate to others, develop values, and contribute to society.
This fall the Girl Scouts of WNC Pisgah Council is offering “Love the Skin You’re In,” a new self-esteem program for middle-school age girls that teaches them how to see their own beauty. The four-session program begins Oct. 4.
Girl Scouts of WNC Pisgah Council CEO Molly Keeney explains, “At an age when girls are going through a difficult transition and are most vulnerable to inappropriate messages about self-image, the Girl Scouts and a skin-care professional offer a fun, safe and savvy program that offers girls an opportunity to explore positive self-image, healthy lifestyle and habits, and an opportunity for career exploration and community service.”
