On its first day, the initiative raised nearly $150,000 for Western North Carolina-based lending, says Jane Hatley, Western Regional Director for Self-Help.

The result of a partnership with Asheville Grown and the Go Local campaign, the new investment vehicle will help fund the credit union’s home mortgages (that will never be sold), as well as small-business, auto and signature loans. The Go Local CD will also help the credit union support local economic-development projects.
