Crowds jumped up and down as colored powder and sparkles were thrown into the air covering everyone and everything in sight. Asheville turned out for the Color Run 5K on the morning of Saturday, July 25, as part of the organizations 2015 Shine Tour.
Runners began checking in at 6 a.m. for the race to kick off at 7:45 a.m. The race, focused on happiness, consisted of two main rules: Start off wearing a white shirt and finish coated in colored powder. The rules were followed with precision. After completing the 5K, many runners lined up to use a leaf blower to knock off excess powder from their hair, skin and clothing before heading back to their cars.
A portion of proceeds from the the Asheville Color Run benefited the Western North Carolina YMCA. Information on upcoming Color Run dates and locations can be found here.
