Set your soul free: It’s time to get back to the land by way of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association’s 12th annual Mountain Farm and Garden Tour. Twenty-five local farms in Madison, Yancey, Buncombe, Haywood and Henderson counties are participating this time around. The goal of the event is to increase awareness and support for local, sustainable agriculture. The group will hold a kick-off event at Greenlife Grocery on Thursday, June 21, at 5:30 p.m. The event will feature grilled local food, local beer and local music by Wiseapple. The tour runs on Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24. Tickets for the whole tour are $20 per car in advance/$25 during the event, or $10 per car per farm for those who only want to visit one or two sites. Tickets can be purchased online at carolinafarmstewards.org, or in person at any participating farm on the day of the event. Advance tix are available at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Black Mountain Tailgate Maket, Black Mountain Farmer’s Market, Trout Lily Market, Reem’s Creek Nursery, French Broad Food Co-op, Greenlife, Rosetta’s Kitchen, Early Girl Eatery, Tomato Jam Cafe, the North Star Diner, Hendersonville Community Co-op, Poppie’s Gourmet Market, Transylvania County Tailgate Market, Appalachian Java, Fox Brothers Country Store and the Yancey County Farmer’s Market. “Tickets” include an I.D. button and a map of the tour.
