No money needed: The Asheville Local Exchange Trading System (LETS) will hold its annual Spring Seedling Swap next Saturday, April 26, at Magnolia Park in Montford.
The event begins at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring extra seedlings, cuttings, bulbs, seeds and potted plants—well marked, mind you—to trade with others, and snacks to share.
At 5 p.m., the swap will be followed by an orientation on LETS. Magnolia Park is located at the corner of Flint Street and Magnolia Avenue, north of downtown Asheville. For more information, visit www.ashevillelets.org or call 800-627-9060.
Decisions, decisions: It’s time again for The Botanical Gardens at Asheville’s annual spring plant sale and fundraiser, scheduled for Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3.
A wide variety of perennials, shrubs and trees nurtured by nurseries and garden clubs throughout the region will be for sale, as well as native plants from the BGA’s own greenhouse. As always, the emphasis at the event is on native plants.
The sale runs from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday and starts up again Saturday at 8 a.m., ending at 3 p.m. that day. BGA members will receive discounts both days. In light of the fact that the plants don’t care, the event will be held rain or shine. The Botanical Gardens at Asheville (www.ashevillebotanicalgardens.org) is located at 151 W.T. Weaver Blvd. near UNCA. For more information, call 252-5190.
