Get off your duff and garden: The Buncombe County Cooperative Extension Service and local Master Gardeners will offer a program on growing vegetables as part of its “Gardening in the Mountains” series on Tuesday, March 11. Coming to a civic center near you: The Western Carolina Home Show will back its big self up to the Asheville Civic Center running March 16 to 18. Along with loads of home-improvement ideas and products, the event will have its usual candy shop of landscaping, gardening and outdoor living goods on display. Hours of the show are Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A friend indeed: A recently formed grass-roots group is tackling the growing issue of the National Animal Identification System, and what it will mean for livestock owners in the region.
