What: The N.C. Arboretum’s Natural Garden Trail has its secrets. No, it’s not a hidden message on the bottom of a hiker’s shoe. Nor is it a clandestine vine climbing an unknown tree. If you search carefully, there’s a small box lurking along the trail. What’s inside? Only intrepid geocachers will know for sure. Geocaching is just one of the Arboretum’s Books and Boots events. There will also be winter bird bingo, readings by local authors and a presentation on floral design for the winter garden. Why this weekend’s focus on nature and reading? It’s the Arboretum’s 25th anniversary season, a chance to celebrate the organization’s contributions to the natural and literary world. So bring your kids and your sleuthing skills and discover all that the Arboretum has to offer.
