On behalf of the City of Asheville and the Asheville Film Festival, I would like to welcome you to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. The City of Asheville is proud to host the fourth annual Asheville Film Festival celebrating independent filmmaking.
Our region has a long history of serving as Hollywood’s backdrop for some unforgettable films. Films such as Dirty Dancing, The Last of the Mohicans, Patch Adams and Hannibal have put Western North Carolina in the forefront for filmmaking. If you are filmmaker, we encourage you to scout your next project with us.
We invite you to extend your stay in the area and experience the unmistakable beauty of our fall season along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the magnificent Biltmore Estate or the rich cultural heritage evident in the eclectic shops and dining establishments. Dear festivalgoers,
As honorary chair of the 2006 Asheville Film Festival, I’m thrilled to welcome you to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina! In the past four years, I’ve experienced the immense growth of this festival and am honored to be a part of something so special.
Since Sex, Lies and Videotape, I’ve had a strong passion for independent filmmaking and it’s important for me to support the efforts of nearly 90 emerging filmmakers in my own backyard. The festival provides the ideal forum to showcase the efforts of these talented professionals.
As a film lover or a filmmaker, I encourage you to explore Western North Carolina. You may just run across the location for those famous scenes from Dirty Dancing or scout the best location for your next film.
Once again, welcome to the mountains and enjoy the festival!
