May the Chi walk with you: The folks at ChiLiving have a notion that a little “chi” in your step could improve the way you walk. And to prove it, they’re offering a free demo at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at FootRx Running in south Asheville.
ChiWalking draws on the principles of ta’i chi, creating more balance in your walking while strengthening your core muscles and energizing your entire body. You can reduce injury and get more out of your efforts by emphasizing form and body alignment – stride length, foot placement, leg swing, arm swing and the like.
Join ChiWalking mentor Michelle Spevak for the free demo. For info on Spevak, visit www.chiways.com. For general info, visit www.chiliving.com, and for directions, call FootRx at 277-5151 or check www.footrxasheville.com.
Map it online: Need to find a shooting range? The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has launched an interactive online map that lists more than 75 public and private ranges across North Carolina.
The map is part of the commission’s new Hunting Heritage Program, which aims to remove obstacles to hunting and increase hunter recruitment and retention. “We hope men and women of North Carolina use this information to find ranges and that it helps lessen one of the barriers to hunting and shooting in our state,” said Walter “Deet” James Jr., the commission’s Hunting Heritage biologist.
