Go: On Zip & Zoom, which combines a LaZoom bus tours and a Navitat zip-lining adventure.
Zip: For three hours through the trees, just 20 minutes north of Asheville. As you speed through the air, the mountains in the Moody Cove area provide a beautiful panorama of Western North Carolina.
Treehug: A tree. At Navitat, people care about trees. The ATVs that take you up to the first zip-line run on biodiesel, and all the wood chopped to construct the tour was reclaimed for the facilities and platforms onsite. Platforms, often situated high in the trees, are designed to grow with the trees so the trees are not harmed. And the platforms allow you to literally wrap your arms around hemlocks and poplars, if you so desire.
Zoom: Around Asheville for a 90-minute tour in the distinctive purple bus that owners Jim and Jennifer Lauzon refurbished. They bought it in Pittsburgh, Pa., and now it barrels down the streets of Asheville inspiring waves and shouts from people on the street.
Laugh: Inside the bus, on the comedic City Tour (though you can choose from three: City, Haunted Comedy or Asheville Art). You might spin around until you’re nauseous on the roundabout, hear all sorts of tunes and whistles blare from LaZoom’s speakers and see the celebrated man in a nun’s habit (he zips too).
Cost: $99 per person, a $13 discount from the two independent adventures. Call 225-6932 for reservations.
