• Marriage licenses are obtained at your county Register of Deeds.
• Show proof of age with a driver’s license, military or state ID, passport or certified birth certificate.
• Show proof of Social Security number with a Social Security card, W-2 form, or payroll stub.
• In the case of a previous marriage, the date of divorce or spouse’s death must be supplied. A signed copy of the divorce is required only if the divorce was within 60 days of obtaining a new marriage license.
• Any ordained or licensed clergymen or magistrate can officiate.
• Two witness signatures are required.
• The license is valid for 60 says.
• North Carolina residency is not required.
• A blood test is not required.
• The fee is $50; marriage certificates are $10.
