After a slew of Valentine’s Day events and its first beer dinner at the brewery — in partnership with Root Down food truck — Twin Leaf is gearing up for its official first anniversary party.
On Sunday, March 8, the brewery will host an all-day celebration starting when the brewery opens at noon.
Co-owners Steph Estela and Tim Weber say to expect food from Smash Box Mobile Kitchen, cake from Fairview’s Ruth & Ranshaw and live bluegrass music from the Crossroads String Band (the music runs 2-5 p.m.).
“It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we took this huge plunge [and opened the brewery]!” says Estela. “It’s been an incredible year and we couldn’t have done it without all of the craft beer love in Asheville.”
What’s more, Weber crafted a special beer for the occasion — the first Twin Leaf beer available in bottles rather than growlers. Dubbed MDXXI, the beer is an imperial version of the brewery’s Mexican chocolate stout, one of Twin Leaf’s most sought-after beers. It features cinnamon, arbol chiles and cacao nibs from French Broad Chocolate Lounge.
“When you use hot peppers it can be a bit of a guess as far as how much heat to expect,” says Weber. “But I’m incredibly pleased with this beer. … It starts with a pleasant chocolate richness and finishes with the perfect slight heat at the back of your tongue.”
The price will be $16 per bottle with a two bottle per person limit as quantities are limited. Bottle sales start when the brewery opens at noon.
