The Mountain Music Mash, a haunted house, ghost tours, a chili cook-off and a costume contest will all be part of this year’s Halloweenfest, hosted by Heart of Brevard. The fun on Brevard’s Main Street starts at 10 a.m. and officially ends at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25.
But if you’re looking for the only party of the year that mixes Halloween fun with an oktoberfest celebration, show up on the late side and stick around for Osktoberfest, which runs 6-10 p.m. in downtown Brevard. If it’s anything like years past, plenty of costumed celebrators are sure to stick around after Halloweenfest. And there’s just something special about an adult man dressed as a tiger and his fairy wife eating bratwurst and drinking Dale’s Pale Ale.
Entrance to Osktoberfest is free and you can look for the main action in front of Brevard Brewing Company on Main Street (in front of Water Oak Suites). The music lineup starts around 6 p.m. with Soldier’s Heart, followed by Dead 27s and wraps up with The Broadcast.
Oskar Blues will be pouring their flagship beers, of course, but they’re also bringing a special treat: Osktoberfest Lager. The beer is a limited-release Marzen-style beer, and proceeds from sales will go to Heart of Brevard. German food is part of the celebration as well, and this year will feature beer-infused brats from Food Matters Market.
