Howling good times: Madison’s Inn and Restaurant in Black Mountain is going to the dogs. On Thursday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Inn will host a silent auction fundraiser for Full Moon Farm, a 17-acre mountain haven dedicated to the rescue and shelter of the wolf dog. There will be a wine bar complete with hors d’oeuvres, and the auction will showcase local artwork and passes for a weekend getaway at Madison’s. Black Mountain’s pet-treat central, Bone-a-Fide Bakery, is also getting in on the Full Moon fun. On Oct. 29, the shop will host a Halloween-themed fundraising parade featuring pets in costume with their owners, with prizes for the best costumes. For more information about either event, call Sandi Rector at 669-0706.
Open Door: One of Black Mountain’s newest restaurants, The Cellar Door, recently expanded its hours. The eatery has added dinner service on Sundays, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The restaurant remains open for lunch and dinner service every other day of the week, with brunch on Sunday mornings. For more information or reservations, call 669-9090.
Through the grapevine: The Biltmore Estate invites you behind the scenes. On weekends through Oct. 23, the Estate will offer 90-minute guided tours of the property’s expansive vineyards, followed by a special wine and cheese tasting and glimpse of where Biltmore’s wines are made. Tours are offered at 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and the cost is $15 per person. Space is limited. Guests may sign up for the event at the winery upon arrival.
