Brunch at Table: After a successful few months of feeding downtown Asheville, Table is adding brunch to its repertoire. From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the restaurant will dish out such fare as Croque Monsieur and dandelion green and potato frittata, while staying true to Table’s fundamentals: seasonal, affordable and pretty damn good food. For more information, visit www.tableasheville.com; call 254-8980 for reservations.
Sesame Street salsa: The Health Adventure’s latest exhibit — “Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street?” — is chock full of activities for children to explore diversity in their community. In conjunction with the exhibit, the Biltmore restaurant La Paz will celebrate Latino Food Day at the Health Adventure from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. Participants will learn about diversity through the world of food in La Paz’s interactive exhibit, where they will learn Spanish words for various foods, watch cooking demonstrations and sample Latino cuisine. Since space is limited, reservations are required. For more information, call 254-6373, ext. 329.
Charitable chefs: Fifteen local chefs will lend their culinary talents to charity next month when the March of Dimes presents its 15th Annual Signature Chefs Gourmet Gala and Auction. The Sept. 9 black-tie event, to be held in the Grove Park Inn’s Vanderbilt Room, will feature cuisine from local restaurants including the Lobster Trap, Black Forest, Corner Kitchen, Cottonwood Cafe and more. The festivities begin with a lavish spread of food while the Bruce Lang band entertains, followed by an auction for such prizes as cruises, artwork and jewelry. Proceeds from the event will benefit the March of Dimes. For more information or tickets, contact Jan Miller at 258-1234 or jmiller@marchofdimes.com.
