Quality coffee sometimes seems like an afterthought at trendy cafes that pride themselves on their comfy interiors and sugary sweets. Fortunately for Asheville, the oft-lauded Asheville Coffee Roasters has flipped that unfortunate equation, just recently opening a sit-down coffeehouse to showcase its top-notch roasts. “Now we have seating, wi-fi, bagels, paninis, all that stuff,” co-owner Greg Bounds said. Bounds said the expanded store, which opened last month at 85 Weaverville Highway, has been an instant hit. “Everyone’s moving north,” he said.

Delia Viader, widely recognized as one of the grande dames of the California wine industry, will be the featured guest at a May 31 wine luncheon hosted by The Classic Wineseller in Waynesville. Viader, who established a successful winery while raising four children on her own, was one of the first Napa vinters to blend Cabernet Franc with Cabernet Sauvignon.
