The flames have gone out at Wild Fire, the much-heralded Waynesville institution that wooed locals and tourists alike with its spicy Pad Thai and incomparable chocolate cake. The restauarnt served its last meal at its Main Street location earlier this month: According to a restaurant staffer, the owner plans to set up shop in a new location — with ample parking — in April.
The Black Mountain News recently reported that Pepper’s Restaurant, a Cherry Street fixture since 1983, started the new year with new owners. Carolyn McDonald sold the popular spot to Barry Rickets, who has said he may tinker with the menu, but has promised not to disrupt the Dr. Pepper decor.
Everything but the coffee and tea selection is about to change at Everyday Gourmet, Treavis and Traci Taylor’s downtown Asheville cafe. The restaurant will close on Jan. 24 and reopen four days later with a new chef — Josh Lawton, sous chef at Fig — a new name, a new wine list and a new menu featuring egg dishes served all day and tapas in the evening. “We’re going to kick it up a notch,” Treavis Taylor said.
