Local country musician Jody Medford, known for his song “Moonshine,” is in the process of making a new video. Filmed by CMT, the shoot — which promises a few surprises — will take place at Cowboy’s Lounge (439 Old Mars Hill Hwy., Weaverville) on Friday, June 19. The location was chosen, Medford tells Xpress, because it’s perfect for the song. All it needs is a crowd, so fans of the country artist, and Weaverville watering holes are invited to the 9 p.m. filming.
“Be sure and buy a raffle ticket to be an exclusive video shoot on Saturday, June 20,” says a flyer for the event. Tickets are available at Cowboy’s and can be purchased until showtime on June 19. The winner will be announced at the Friday night filming, along with details of the closely guarded and very exclusive Saturday filming.
Medford is currently working on an album produced by Kimo Forrest of the band Alabama. “He is in two music videos with me, ‘Southern Born, Southern Bred’ and ‘Moonshine,'” Medford says. Keech Rainwater, drummer for country band Lonestar, produced the video for “Moonshine.” And, Medford continues, “Two other incredible musicians are in the ‘Southern Born, Southern Bred’ video — my friend Jody Harris has toured with such great artist as Montgomery Gentry and Brad Paisley … and is currently on tour with Taylor Swift. Steve Stokes is the fiddle player in the same video and he has toured with such great artists as Trace Adkins and Josh Turner.”
