Xpress playlist: Holiday edition

Whether you’re celebrating Solstice, Yuletide, Christmas, Saturnalia or nothing at all (Humbug Day is Dec. 21), we’ve got a song for you. Actually, local musicians have a song for you. From new releases, recorded just for the holidays, to old favorites (remember the Yo, Humbug! album from 2000, featuring Tyler Ramsey among other WNC-based artists?), we’ve tracked down the sounds of the season.

• “Love is the Reason,” a new single by Laura Reed
• “Birnam’s Holiday,” by Night’s Bright Colors, from Early Light
• “So Christmas is Here,” by Danny Peck, from Danny Goes Christmas, Vol. 4
• “Christmas in Dixie,” by Lynn Goldsmith, from Carolina Christmas
• “So Celebrate,” by RBTS WIN, from Palm Sunday
• “Carol of the Bells,” by The Blue Rags, by Yo, Humbug!
• “Snowforts and Sandcastles,” by Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, from Make Believers
• “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” by Jr. James, from Yo, Humbug!
• “All I Want for Christmas is You,” a new single by The Jellyrox
• “Jingle Bells,” a new single by River Whyless

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we’ve never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
